[MPlayer-users] Splitting avi file in the middle

Hi, im wanting to split an avi file in the middle, however im having a bit of trouble, i tried using the following command:
 
mencoder -ss 00:05:00 -endpos 00:06:00 -ovc copy -oac copy infile.avi -o outfile.avi
 
to split the avi from 5mins - 6mins -however the reuslt was the first 6mins were cut.
 
Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thankyou
