[MPlayer-users] Mac OSX mplayer file associations

I'm trying to associate files (.mp4 for example) with mplayer rather than
quicktime, but when I go to the list of apps, mplayer is gray, and not
selectable.  I've changed the default "recommended apps" to "all apps" with
no luck.  I'm not really a Mac person, and don't know what it's looking
for.  Owner?  Permissions? (current 755).
