MPlayer works flawlessly for me.

Maybe, yours are too old.

Mine is the very latest svn;

MPlayer dev-SVN-r27638-4.3 (C) 2000-2008 MPlayer Team
CPU: Dual-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 2224 SE (Family: 15, Model: 65, Stepping: 3)
CPUflags:  MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 1 3DNow2: 1 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1

BTW, she is NOT a Japanese. :-)
