[MPlayer-users] libass broken in official Mac 1.0rc2 binary?

I've downloaded the official Mac OS X build of MPlayer 1.0rc2 from <http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/MPlayerOSX_1.0rc2.dmg 
 >, but found that there's one rather significant bug in it: namely,  
that something involved in the ASS subtitle renderer seems to be  
completely broken, to the point of crashing when a subtitle needs to  
be displayed.

The 'default' subtitle renderer is fine; this only appears to affect  
libass.

I filed a bug about this on Bugzilla providing more detail; see here:

It should be noted also that the official 1.0rc1 build, as well as the  
unofficial pre-rc2 build from Mohammad Haque, both have libass  
functioning correctly.
