Hi,
I was using MPlayer just fine when running under RHEL 4, but I had to go
and upgrade. I totally understand now why my wife hates to hear those
two words spoken in the same sentence, computer and upgrade. :-) I
now have Fedora 9, kernel 2.6.25.11-97.fc9.i686 and I can't get MPlayer
to configure.
The configure.log file shows the following:
============ Checking for zlib ============
#include <zlib.h>
int main(void) { (void) inflate(0, Z_NO_FLUSH); return 0; }
cc -Wall -Wno-switch -Wpointer-arith -Wredundant-decls -O4 -march=native
-mtune=native -pipe -ffast-math -fomit-frame-pointer -o
/tmp/mplayer-conf-6708-2842 /tmp/mplayer-conf-8907-2842.c -lz
/tmp/mplayer-conf-8907-2842.c:1:18: error: zlib.h: No such file or directory
/tmp/mplayer-conf-8907-2842.c: In function 'main':
/tmp/mplayer-conf-8907-2842.c:2: warning: implicit declaration of
function 'inflate'
/tmp/mplayer-conf-8907-2842.c:2: error: 'Z_NO_FLUSH' undeclared (first
use in this function)
/tmp/mplayer-conf-8907-2842.c:2: error: (Each undeclared identifier is
reported only once
/tmp/mplayer-conf-8907-2842.c:2: error: for each function it appears in.)
Result is: no
##########################################
it also throws the following message after running confugure:
Error: The GUI requires libavcodec with PNG support (needs zlib).
Except that zlib is installed. The version from rpm -q is:
zlib-1.2.3-18.fc9.i386
arm-gp2x-linux-zlib-1.2.3-6.fc8.noarch
jzlib-1.0.7-5jpp.1.i386
The first one was the only one installed at first, I added the other two
thinking it might help, but it didn't. I also can't find any reference
to libavcodec except with FFMpeg, which I also installed. Its version
is: gallery2-ffmpeg-2.2.5-1.fc9.noarch
I appreciate any ideas on this, as the usual Google, Yahoo searches have
turned up no further info. It's hard to believe that no one else has
run into this, but who knows.
Thanks
Mike
