[MPlayer-users] how to build shared (.so) libraries? --enable-shared --enable-libavcodec_so

How can I build the shared (.so) libraries? Because there is no --enable-shared for configure, and --enable-libavcodec_so is accepted but does not appear to create .so libraries.
