I didn't test your script, but I just wanted to share a sample
commandline that works well on my iPod Classic, with latest firmware:
mencoder -dvd-device ./JOHNNY_CASH/ dvd:// -vf
crop=704:336:10:72,yadif,scale=-10,harddup -of lavf -lavfopts
format=mp4 -af lavcresample=44100 -oac faac -faacopts
mpeg=4:object=2:br=160:raw -ovc x264 -x264encopts
global_header:bitrate=1381:vbv_maxrate=1500:vbv_bufsize=2000:keyint=500:threads=auto:subq=7:me=umh:level_idc=13:nocabac
-frames 500 -o ipod.mp4
Note that this doesn't require ANY other software besides MEncoder :-)
I'll do some more test, and maybe add it to the docs...
