Your problem is that you didn't know that VCDs have no real filesystem, so
mounting them is useless (so is using the mounted path as -cdrom-device)
and won't work. Just pass the real cdrom device (/dev/sr1 or /dev/hdc or
whatever it is on your system) to MPlayer and try playing vcd://2.
