The math is very straightforward and not subject to being wrong in
random cases. Using -monitoraspect with the right value (or
-monitorpixelaspect in modern versions, which defaults to 1:1 and does
not need to be changed unless you're doing something stupid like
running 1280x1024 on a 4:3 display) will give the right results for
all files that do not contain incorrect aspect information.
