That explains a few things. Thanks. It's working now. The fact that some worked and some didn't threw me.

I'm slightly confused by the following message, but the receiver reports it as DTS 5.1

AUDIO: 48000 Hz, 2 ch, ac3, 768.0 kbit/50.00% (ratio: 96000->192000)
Selected audio codec: [hwdts] afm: hwac3 (DTS through S/PDIF)

AO: [alsa] 48000Hz 2ch ac3 (1 bytes per sample)

I guess it is playing DTS through the SPDIF and 2ch demux through normal speaker outputs?
