Hmm.  Make sure your JPEG has dimentions divisible by 16.   Or you can
just do -vf scale=-8:-8

Yes, MPlayer resizes the window, and waits for the next frame to be
displayed (full-screen) but it never comes.  With such low fps values,
you should add -ofps, set to some reasonable number (ie. > 1).
