That is no surprise, xv (at least when using the default port) does not
support RGB (though I am surprised it works at all, my nVidia card can
only do at most a resolution of 2046 x 2046 with xv).
I would strongly suggest using YV12 as video format, this halves the
vide bitrate (though you also halve the resolution of the colour
information of the video - given how the human eye works that should not
really be relevant).
If you have to stay with RGB as source, try -vo gl -dr
