[MPlayer-users] Is there anyway I can compile mplayer with configuration option "--enable-gui" and "--enable-static"

Try adding

--enable-menu

Don't know why, but leaving that out seems to keep it from working.

Try

DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS="--enable-gui --enable-menu" fakeroot debian/rules binary

Should build your own debian package
