[MPlayer-users] mounting an avi from a directory of jpg

I have an animation made out of many jpg.
Every time I try to made an avi out of single images, I get a 
"flickering" image.
Now my question:
1. does somebody experiences the same problem?
2. Is that usefull to play around with compression and bitrate to "blur" 
it in a way?

The command line I use:
mencoder mf://*.jpg -mf fps=25:type=jpg -ovc copy -oac copy -o mjpeg.avi
