TBH, I don't know.  I've not had a reason to use it but have seen it referred 
to here by others and it was the only option I could think of to help you 
out.

You might have to manually make an edit decision list eg 
see /usr/local/share/doc/mplayer/edl.html although I'm only guessing here.
