[MPlayer-users] Install MPlayer on Debian Etch AMD64: problems

My problem is the following. On SuSE-8.2 with 32bit cpu, I had no
problem to install the MPlayer binaries. On a cpu AMD64, it hangs
everytime. I thus have to use the versions delivered with Debian Etch or
SuSE-10.1 and both give problems I can not solve by trying the latest
SVN.

Two questions thus:

1) Is there a Web-link where I can find a way to install efficiently
MPlayer on a Debian Etch AMD64.

2) The version delivered by Debian is dev-SVN-rUnknown-4.1.2. With the
following instruction:

#! /bin/bash

ENDPOS=7300
FILE=temp1.avi

cd /sda3/avi/mission

/usr/bin/mencoder -tv driver=v4l2:width=720:height=576:amode=1 -oac lavc -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=2200:vratetol=32000:mbd=2:psnr:aspect=4/3:acodec=mp3:abitrate=224 -vf crop=672:528:24:24,pp=lb,scale=576:432,hqdn3d=3:2:5 -sws 1 -noodml -ffourcc DIVX tv:// -o $FILE -endpos $ENDPOS

I have an A/V sync problem:

"Badly interleaved AVI File detected - switching to -ni mode"

Can I recover the corrupted file and restore the A/V synchronisation?
