Hello,

you may install x264 in your home, adding its location to e.g. 
--extra-libs=FLAGS.
Also you may set environment variables that are used by gcc.
Mplayer may be installed anywhere you have rights to, using --prefix or 
more complex options (like --bindir=DIR, etc)
