It will indeed.  Though, unlike phosphor burn-in, it is
generally a short-term effect that will go away if you just leave the
screen off for several hours (or days in serious cases).

Seriously, though, burn-in not a big deal.  Better plasmas will shift
the picture by a couple pixels every few seconds, to avoid problems
with static images.  Direct-view CRTs don't really suffer from
burn-in.  LCDs only have temporary effects.  etc.  Only the cheaper
projection-CRTs/plasmas have serious burn-in problems.
