[MPlayer-users] [AO_ALSA] Unable to find simple control 'PCM',0.

I get the following error message when I try to change the volume using / 
or * in mplayer:

[AO_ALSA] Unable to find simple control 'PCM',0.

I'm running 

mplayer-1.0-0.88.rc2.lvn8

on a brand new F8 install with the latest updates. F8 comes with 
pulseaudio, and the bug may be related to that too, or, obviously to 
alsa, but I can't tell for sure. I'll be happy to provide any information 
that might be necessary.
