[MPlayer-users] What -vo option should I use?

It depends a lot. Though I never considered vidix being faster an
"accepted wisdom". One difference is that with xv and gl you might end
up with some kind of software emulation, with vidix you at least know
for sure what you get...

On some half-recent (9200 or so? Don't remember) ATI, vidix was a little
bit faster than xv, at least in the Xorg 6.8 days... Proprietary drivers
produced a nice purple line at the bottom, so not tested against those
though.
And of course Linux 2.6...
