Oh, ehm, I should read better before hitting send. I didn't see your comment
about the content being interlaced. Yes, if you want to keep the
interlacing, MPlayer should not mess with the number of lines. But it would
be better to de-interlace the content first (vf yadif or tfields) and then
upscale to the desired AR.
