[MPlayer-users] Automating recording of VHS cassette

Hello all,

I am using a Hauppauge! WinTV-PVR-150MCE on Kubuntu Edgy Eft
to record from a VCR. Is there a way to automatically stop capturing
when the end of the recording is reached?

I suppose that it could be done using the length of the recording, if
it is known, but can MPlayer/MEncoder recognize that the video is
just static, or a blue screen?
