Hallo List,
I am currently working on a semi-professional student project. We want
to create an application for cinemas to control their environment. In
the first step we don't need to support the main movie (so no DRM
problem at the moment), but we have to support 4K resolution (4096 ×
2160). Don't ask me why (there are no films at this rate at the moment).
I need to make a proof of concept asap. So first I did run four synchron
mplayer using a 2k htdtv movie (elephants dream) without any problems.
So decoding won't be the problem, I think. Unfortunately I suppose that
X is sophisticated enough to render just the shown window and not all of
them, so I expect some bad side effects from the graphical part.
Has anyone of you tried to use such a big resolution yet?
My plans are to plug in a second graphic card, configure Xinerama for
four screens and test the resolution in this way. Do you think this test
is sufficient, or do I need to consider other problems?
Thanks in advance,
regards,
georg
