[MPlayer-users] Pan&Scan on 16:9-displays

ATM I'm using xv as VO, which supports the Pan&Scan feature, though
something in there is not yet possible: I output the data with
monitoraspect 16:9 on my TV-Out. When I output letterboxed
non-anamorphic video, I get black borders on all sides of the video.
Using Pan&Scan (w/e) only can expand the picture of on the top and the
bottom there is some space, but not if on the left and right sides are,
which would be needed for 16:9-Displays.

A 16:9 Video on a 16:9-Monitor looks this way:

    +--------------------------+
    | """"" |
    | O/O D| |
    | / | |
    | +- / |
    | '-- | |
    |,,,,,,,,,,/ \,,,,,,,,,,,,|
    | / \ |
    +--------------------------+

But the same non-anamorphic would look like this:

    +--------------------------+
    |XXX$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$XXX|
    |XXX """" XXX|
    |XXX O/OD| XXX|
    |XXX +- / XXX|
    |XXX '--| XXX|
    |XXX'''''''/ \'''''''''XXX|
    |XXX$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$XXX|
    +--------------------------+

(pardon my poor ascii-art)

With the $-Symbols being part of the encoded video (in this case). To
get rid of these one could a) zoom in on the TV, b) use crop on mplayer
to make them disappear altogether and get a 16:9-shaped image or c) zoom
in on mplayer with the w/e keys (which is not possible ATM).
