My dvdnav-config includes

    --libs)
      echo_libs=yes
      ;;
    --minilibs)
      echo_minilibs=yes
      ;; 
[...]

I didn't edit at all.

I don't think so.
I can build with the original configure script.

I think, William must add the option "--libdir=/usr/local/lib" to
./configure.
