[MPlayer-users] 'Failed to open scale=320:240' error

Hi,

I am trying to use 'mencoder' to scale a video file, here is my command

 ./mencoder ~/videos/transformer.mov -ovc lavc -oac lavc scale=320:240
-o output.avi

But i get an error saying 'Failed to open scale=320:240', can you
please tell me why is that?
And i have tried other scale, e.g. 160:120, it results in the same error:

Error while decoding frame!3.34fps Trem:   0min   0mb  A-V:0.030 [812:224]
File not found: 'scale=320:240'fps Trem:   0min   0mb  A-V:0.019 [795:224]
Failed to open scale=320:240.
Cannot open file/device.
