[MPlayer-users] how to play DVD files from harddrive?

hello

supposing i've made a backup of my DVD onto my hard drive, using dvdrip, how do I play the HD copy with mplayer?

dvdrip creates a <path>/vob/  directory with a bunch of files.

with xine I can simply do:

	xine <path>/vob/

and it plays the whole thing as if from dvd disk, with selectable subtitles and audio tracks (although without the  menus)

Can mplayer not match this functionality of xine?  

been wondering for over a year
