[MPlayer-users] can't select DVD titles with mencoder

I think you may be onto something.  The Sony RDR-VX530 DVD recorder allows me
to record on DVD-RW in either or two formats: VR or Video.  I chose VR
because it would allow me to erase chapters and regain the space.  But the
manual says that these DVDs are playable only on "VR mode compatible
players".  And in fact I have had trouble playing these on two cheapo
players.

If I format in Video mode and finalize the disk, a DVD menu is created.  It
is claimed that this will be playable on most DVD players.  I'll check this
all out and let you know what happens.

Meanwhile, though, the experiments I recorded in VR format may be a loss.  I
can't change their format now without losing the video.
