[MPlayer-users] Can mplayer support HD-DVD?

BackupHDDVD really is just a rather straightforward implementation of the
AACS specification, crafted from documents all freely available on the AACS
website, http://www.aacsla.com . It does not violate the law because it does
not provide facilities to extract the keys necessary to play the media,
which apparently is the protected part of this process. The hacker who
originally wrote the program obviously knows how, else it wouldn't be
testable, and others found out pretty quick, else we wouldn't be seeing
these rips.

mplayer can implement the AACS decryption code, but would probably on shaky
legal ground implementing a scheme to extract the license keys from the
media. As Nico said, a solution where the user provides mplayer the keys
seems like the best path, to me, at this juncture. : )
