[MPlayer-users] known problems with -nortc?

We had problems using MPlayer on notebook hardware. We could solve it on 
a test PC using `-nortc' as reported in the FAQ, 
<http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/HTML/de/faq.html#id2556119>. But this 
parameter is not explained at the manpage.

We'd like to prevent new problems. Before deploying it to other PCs: What 
does this option do? And, are there any known problems with it?
