thank you for your hint. i tried that, and with
mplayer -v -monitoraspect 16:9 -fs -vf scale=1024:768 1087371.divx
it works (but the cpu goes up to 99%). i tried with xine also, and i have the 
same problem with xine. so i think i am on the wrong list here, because this 
is really a driver issue. i opened a bug report
