They say that you should not report problems unless you are using the
svn version. Building MPlayer on Windows can be a bit tiresome
if you do not already have your build environment set up. However,
if you want to try a more recent Win32 build, try the "MPlayer on win32"
link in the "Related Projects" page at the MPlayer website.

Also, you are not supposed to trim the output.

The codecs.conf tells MPlayer and MEncoder about the properties and capabilities
of the codecs. It doesn't say where to find them. See
http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/DOCS/tech/codecs.conf.txt for details. Those
messages about 'Reading various/paths/to/codecs.conf' tell you the different
places that are searched including --codecsdir.

The codecs.conf file is not necessary, as it has a built-in one. Some people
have suggested that if you have one, you should delete or rename it.

I don't really have any more ideas, though.
