[MPlayer-users] How to reduce the volume independently

Hi

I have two instances of mplayer running on two shells of ubuntu 6.0.6 
machine kernel 2.6.15 with alsa sound card driver.When I try to modify 
the volume of any one instance the other one also gets modified.
Is there a way to control the volume of the instances independently.
