Greetings!

I am a relatively new mplayer user, and my experience is sufficient
only to tell me that the following should do what I need:
mplayer -ao alsa -vo x11 -alang en dvd://1

Normally this works, but I have just now rented a DVD that refuses to
play. It seems to work at first as it brings up the video window to
which I am accustomed, but then stops a second later having not
actually displayed anything. Here is the output I get:

I know it says that there is no matching audio language, but I've
tried simply "mplayer dvd://1" in hopes that the dvd would succumb if
I allowed mplayer to auto-detect everything. No luck, however -- the
same results.

To be perfectly honest, I have no idea what mplayer is telling me or
how to make this work. If someone can offer me some direction,
assistance, answers to life, etc., will be most grateful.

Cheers, and thanks in advance!
