I doubt that's the cause. I played a lot of movies with Dolby 5.1 on  
a Pentium 500, in Windows, and in Linux, with and without  
deinterlacing, with WinDVD, mplayer, Xine, and Ogle. I even played  
one with 4.0 output. I don't think the sound stream is the issue.

DVD Menu support is very preliminary (relative to the rest of  
MPlayer) and only available in the SVN releases of MPlayer thus far.  
You're not going to get to that menu, sorry.

Nope. Sorry, but "V for Vendetta" only has 5.1 tracks for the movie.

Have you tried playing the video back with another DVD app, such as  
Xine or Ogle? (FYI: Both have menu support)
