[MPlayer-users] mpg/mpeg time stamps problem

Hello everybody:

I have some mpg/mpeg files with the following problem:
When I play these files by mplayer the time indicator starts 
from 0:00 over and over again several times during playback.
I guess there is a problem with time stamps in the file.
How could I fix this with mencoder or some other software 
(without reencoding the file)?
