Until about a few months ago,
I was running mplayer using svgalib for the output
with the setting
vo=svga:4:sq
in /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf
and it was working just great in full console mode.
This was with 'chipset VESA' activated in /etc/vga/libvga.config.
The images were just as good as X provided.
The ':sq' seemed to make a big difference in quality.
Then it quit working, I suspect something after an
'apt-get update; apt-get upgrade' cycle.
Mplayer still works fine in X, and still works with svgalib
if I settle for non-VESA, VGA mode, which seems to have greatly
degraded video quality. (perhaps there are some tweaks that can
correct this, but I don't know what they'd be)
aa-lib works also.
Anyway, if there is any further information or actions I can
take to help correct this let me know,
any advice is appreciated.
Thank you much for any help.
