[MPlayer-users] NASA TV

Hi!

I am trying to get the NASA TV Real feed to work. This feed worked until
recently (two-and-a-half months ago) but broke then with "demux_real:
invalid chunksize! (0)". This is the feed:
http://www.nasa.gov/ram/35037main_portal.ram

I have tried this on a ppc (using the essential-ppc codec pack) as well
as FC5 x86 using the livna version of mplayer
(mplayer-1.0-0.46.pre8.lvn5).

Since my PPC system is gentoo, it's easy to switch back and forth
between gcc versions. Thus, I have tried compiling mplayer with both
gcc-3.4.6 and gcc-4.1.1, but it didn't work with either version.

The problem manifests itself as follows:

After filling its cache, mplayer displays one frame of the RealVideo
stream, then pops up the "demux_real: invalid chunksize! (0)" message.
The sound continues to work fine. Both mplayer and gmplayer behave this
way except, of course, that mplayer outputs the message onto the
terminal, whereas gmplayer produces a popup message box with the
message.

Not all RealVideo streams are broken. For example, I have been able to
play other RealVideo streams off the NASA Web site - audio /and/ video.

It appears as though /something/ about the stream has recently changed,
because I believe that, at least in the case of FC5, the NASA TV feed
broke "spontaneously", with no modifications on my part to the computer
playing the stream.

The stream continues to play fine with the latest RealPlayer for Linux
(available only for x86, of course :o( ).

I'd appreciate any solutions people have found to this problem !

Thanks for your help!
