a bug a big harie bug that I spent 20 hours to find because I thought
the problem was some where else
my distro is slackware-10.2
linux-2.6.18 kernel
my libc is
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1340373 2005-09-10 18:05 /lib/libc-2.3.5.so*
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root      13 2006-09-18 17:30 /lib/libc.so.6 ->
libc-2.3.5.so*
my gcc version is
Configured with: ../gcc-3.3.6/configure --prefix=/usr --enable-shared
--enable-threads=posix --enable-__cxa_atexit --disable-checking
--with-gnu-ld --verbose --target=i486-slackware-linux
--host=i486-slackware-linux
Thread model: posix
gcc version 3.3.6
my ld version is
GNU ld version 2.15.92.0.2 20040927
my bin utils verrsion is
GNU assembler 2.15.92.0.2 20040927
my vedio card is a ati rage pro 3d
my sound card is a sound blaster awe64
and I have this problem using ALSA ,ALSA OSS emulation and OSS drivers
NOW here is the problem every time mplayer runs it moves the /dev/dsp
symlink from /dev/dsp0 to /dev/sound/dsp after that the only 2 programs
that can make a sound is KDE set for auto detecht or mplayer
so as far as I can tell the best fix would be a way to set mplayer to
use /dev/sound/dsp insted of it moving the symlink and bracking every
thing else that uses /dev/dsp
