Likely so, but I don't think any of us can say for sure. What card is
it, anyway? I've been using nVidia cards with mplayer for years and
never had any particular problem. My AGP 6800GT doesn't choke.

What happens when you add "-vf scale=480:368"?

Does your xine use xv output?

...also, I just looked at your original post. When you installed your
nvidia drivers, did you use (or have you ever used) the generic
installer from nVidia's website? That can cause problems; use the Debian
packages instead.
