konichiva akihiro san, for the first question i dont really now the
actual computing mechanism. and yes.. interval between two key frames
can be that long. see mencoder options (man mencoder) - you can
specify it there for example.

maybe re-encoding the file (you have to truly re-encode, not just use
-ovc copy) will help. dunno.
