[MPlayer-users] 5.1 DTS conversion to 6 mono wav files

Hi,

I'm interested in converting a DTS wav file into 6 mono PCM wav files.
Is this possible using mplayer? I have tried the following (where
test.wav is the generated PCM file and 01.wav is the DTS wav file)

mplayer -ao pcm:file=test.wav 01.wav

However, the result is a stereo wav file. 

1. Does mplayer take it upon itself to mix the 6 channels into two? 
2. Also, does it do anything to prevent clipping while mixing the
channels?
3. Ultimately, is there any way to get 6 discrete PCM files as output?
