I'm guessing you're referring to your previous message on this thread, in 
particular:

"See the video4linux BTTV docs in the kernel tree"

I didn't clue in at the time that by "kernel tree" you meant my local kernel 
source (the kernel is still mostly terra incognita for me), and Nico's 
message about my needing "tuner=6" came in at the same time, which solved my 
immediate problem, so I kind of glossed over the rest (I think I mentioned 
that I'm usually time challenged 8^). Then when I asked about docs, I didn't 
think to go back and reread the previous messages. My bad.

I do tend to overlook local docs, other than man and info pages, and jump 
right to google. 90% of the time, that finds me the answer, or at least some 
clues, faster.

I looked at the docs that Hans pointed out, though, and they don't seem to 
answer my question, unless I'm missing something (which is always a 
possibility!). 

In /usr/src/linux/Documentation/video4linux/bttv/Cards, the section on Zoltrix 
says:

I don't see anything in there that tells me I should set card=15 or tuner=6. 
Of course, Mandriva is usually a little behind the times on the kernel and 
package versions, so possibly newer versions of these docs have more info in 
them.

But more basically, I've never configured a tv card before, so I had no idea 
that I might have to tell it what card and tuner to assume. I didn't come 
across anything in the video4linux or mplayer docs that suggested this, but 
again, maybe I missed it.

But thanks to both of you for pointing out this source of documentation to me. 
I should have read all of this before posting questions here. I'll try to 
remember that in the future.
