[MPlayer-users] h264 encoded video playback problem

i use mplayer cvs (so far its from 13.4., tomorrow i will try to download newer one, here my internet is too slow)

when i play any high quality h264 encoded video i have, i get to the same problem. at the beginning of movie everything works correctly. then after some time video playback is choppy, cpu usage is too high and in terminal there are messages

then usually when scene changes it works correctly again - for some time. 

this all happens with ffmpeg (FFmpeg H.264). i compiled and installed x264 library (cvs snapshot) and recompiled mplayer. after configure it wrote that x264 support will be available. however i found no possibility to use x264 library for decoding (its not an option when i run mplayer with -vc help). so i can't test if it is decoder issue or any general problem in video.

any idea what could be wrong? or can it be that 1.7Ghz Athlon is too slow to decode 1024x432 h264encoded video? (i doubt that decoding could be so slow, but what if...)
