Now I tried running the following as root:
mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device /dev/scd0
And this time, at least I did not get the follwing permission denied
Linux RTC init error in ioctl (rtc_irqp_set 1024): Permission denied
Try adding "echo 1024 > /proc/sys/dev/rtc/max-user-freq" to your
system startup scripts.
So the results:

I don't care about the joystick and LIRC.
Next question - why am I getting this:
