loadfile <file|url> <append>
    Load the given file/URL, stopping playback of the current file/URL.
    If <append> is nonzero playback continues and the file/URL is
    appended to the current playlist instead.

loadlist <file> <append>
    Load the given playlist file, stopping playback of the current file.
    If <append> is nonzero playback continues and the playlist file is
    appended to the current playlist instead.


I am running mplayer with the following options:

mplayer -fixed-vo -slave -loop 0 -quiet -playlist playlist.txt

then from the console, when I try:

loadfile videos/video22.mov 1

mplayer starts to play the video22.mov immediately instead of appending to
the current playlist as stated above in the documentation.

Any idea why or what am I missing?
