[MPlayer-users] wmv frame rate: 1000fps?

I have an issue with frame rate in some .wmv files: mplayer display them as 
being "1000fps", which is obviously not right. Is this information missing 
from the header or is mplayer just not getting it right?

This affects mencoder, which needs -ofps in order to get the right framerate 
and not drop or skip frames.

A sample file is this one:

but other .wmv files have the same issue. Video bitrate is also off.
