There are 2 (important) decoders on Windows for h264: ffdshow and CoreAVC.
With CoreAVC, something like a P4/3GHz HT is enough to play
H264 at 1920x1080, but with ffdshow, the same CPU is barely enough for
720x576.
Most "windows folk" only knows ffdshow...
