[MPlayer-users] starting mplayer with -stop-xscreensaver takes a long time

Hi

Whenever I start mplayer with -stop-xscreensaver it takes a long time
for mplayer to start (5-10 seconds). On the command line it prints and
waits:

vo: X11 running at 1280x1024 with depth 24 and 32 bpp (":0.0" => local
display)
xscreensaver_disable: xscreensaver wid=10485761.

If do a "ps aux" while I'm waiting for mplayer to start up, I can see
the following mplayer related processes:

mplayer -stop-xscreensaver Desktop/IWNB-Trailer-720x400.avi
mplayer -stop-xscreensaver Desktop/IWNB-Trailer-720x400.avi
sh -c dcop kdesktop KScreensaverIface isEnabled 2>/dev/null | sed
's/1/true/g' | grep
dcop kdesktop KScreensaverIface isEnabled
sed s/1/true/g
grep true

It seems like it hangs trying to stop the KDE screensaver. It also seems
to spawn 2 identical mplayer processes.

I'm running Ubuntu Breezy on a x86, using Gnome while having KDE
installed as well.

Does anyone have the same problems and knows of a solution?

cheers
Michael
