[MPlayer-users] Constant bitrate video encoding with lavc

I've got a few TV episodes I'd like to throw on a DVD and have them all 
sized equally and appropriately; however, I'm having a bit of difficulty 
acheiving a constant video bitrate with MEconder and lavc.  Any ideas?

This still gives me a cbr:

mencoder in/6x02.avi -ovc lavc -nosound vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=916:vrc_minrate=916:vrc_eq=1 -o foo.avi
